As will all industries, technology in the on-site industry is constantly changing.  Interpretation bulletins, regulations and amendments to the technical guidelines are changing on a regular basis.  To keep pace with changing technology, and to keep up to date with the continual changes in the industry, it is important to stay informed on a continual basis.

The Professional Development Program is designed for professionals to improve their skills and remain current on new developments and best practices in the industry.   Qualified Persons, Installers Septic Tank Pumpers, Portable Restroom Operators and Septic Bed Flushers can collect professional development points annually through Waste Water Nova Scotia membership, attendance at Regional Meetings, and the Annual General Meeting.

It is not mandatory to participate in the program, however failure to accumulate the required numbers of points over the four-year period will result in a member having to take their recertification over again on their own expense.
