Maintaining a Septic System

All septic systems require maintenance to extend their life as long as possible.

For traditional septic systems, this could include regularily pumping the septic tank, cleaning the effluent filter if one is present and keeping the grass cut on the disposal field.

If the system is pressurized; pumps, floats and alarms should be checked periodically to ensure they are working properly.

Advanced treatment units may have specific maintenance requirements which should be discussed with the designing Engineer, Installer or manufacturer.
